I was so excited this week to get my hands on a sweet Galison puzzle – at first glance the image was right up my street, pretty colours and whimsical in design. If you’ve never washed-up a Galison puzzle, here are my thoughts on Florette…
What were the pieces like?
This puzzle is what Galison refer to as a ‘ribbon cut’. The pieces are increasingly wilted in shape though rather than stuff in straight lines so you can unchangingly tell where a piece fits. Although the workbench is not as thick as Ravensburger, it is still good quality and the pieces are strong and fit well. If you have a section together you can slide it wideness the puzzle workbench hands and it will stay together. The pieces have a good wipe cut, no raggy edges and the fit is just right. This is a 500 piece puzzle and the pieces are slightly larger than stereotype – it just fit onto my 1000 porta puzzle as it was square shaped.
The box and all that jazz…
The puzzle box itself is lovely quality. Matt finished and a good solid design. As Galison themselves suggest, the boxes are perfect for reuse. The puzzle comes with a small reference poster which I used instead of the box to refer to the picture.
Final Thoughts….
I did the edges first then worked from the marrow upwards – the untried plants in the windows were definitely the trickiest parts. I did enjoy this puzzle, particularly the lovely colours and the pieces stuff so well fitting.
